Sugar Loaf Mountain

Escape to Nature
Nestled amidst 300 acres of wilderness in the Brecon Beacons National Park, South Wales. Penlan is a Grade II listed 16th century farmhouse and barn complex with 8 bedrooms. Offering modern luxury combined with a unique blend of historic charm and peaceful seclusion. This hillside haven is close to both the quaint village of Crickhowell and the larger bustling market town of Abergavenny. Penlan has a host of additional delights including being less than a two hour drive to the Gower Coast and just three hours from London.

Carefully balancing the great outdoors with the great indoors, Penlan is remote and romantic whether summer or winter. With panoramic views across the valley and through to the Beacons, modern touches blend with the historic character of the farmhouse and provide a stunning base for walking, exploring or just gathering. This sumptuous mountain hideaway sits as it has from the early 1600s amongst protected forests and trickling streams. Tranquility reigns here.

“We've been holding family gatherings in rentals for many years. Penlan was, by a country mile, the best venue we have found to date. Richard and Alison were immensely helpful with preparing the location for our celebration and gracious and forbearing with the "creative" endeavors of our 3 year old grandson. Thank you guys!! The property was equipped, furnished and maintained to a very high specification, beautifully decorated and super comfy. Thoughtfully laid out, the accommodation was good for age ranges 3-87. The views from the main living room were wonderful, you have a sense of isolation yet you're a short drive from Crickhowell. Storm Bert hit over the weekend of our stay- it mattered not! Richard and Alison checked in to make sure we were all OK and -tbh- what better location to hunker down with family, friends, good food and enjoy watching the wild weather wash by the vista from the living room. Penlan was the key to one of the best family gatherings we have had.

“ A fabulous house, perfect location. Close to the charming towns of Abergavenny and Crickhowell (although Penlan is so inviting there is no need to leave) little nooks inside and out like the snug with the original 16th century fire and the terrace with stunning views, ."
